Jacquie Fraser has been a qualified nurse for over 40 years as well as being an accredited counsellor. She is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy who have awarded her senior status.
Jacquie's interest in counselling began when she worked for Mencap in the seventies, while she was running a respite care home for children with learning disabilities, and continued when she began formal counselling training during her ten years working in a Hospice in West London. She went on to set up small community counselling services and then came her big break!
Jacquie successfully applied to set up a counselling service for Riverside Health Authority, based at Charing Cross Hospital in 1992. Over the next 20 years, this service, designed specifically to support renal patients and their families, was to expand and develop enormously into a service providing a range of information, support and specialist counselling to a renal patient group of over 3,000 people, spread over 10 London Hospitals.
In 2011 she set up the counselling service at the British Kidney Patient Association, where she works today offering advice and support to kidney patients right across the UK.
