About The BKPA

Our mission every day is to make life easier for kidney patients and their families.

40 years white roundFor 40 years, BKPA has been providing direct support for kidney patients and working hard to improve health and care services across the UK.

We provide support to around 100 patients every week and invest over £3 million each year in patient grants, providing practical and emotional support, funding patient research projects and improving care services. We’re here to give our total support to help improve the quality of life for everyone affected by kidney disease.

We work at a national and government level to improve health and care services for kidney patients. Everything we do is about ensuring that the patient voice is at the heart of national decision-makings. We have a Patient Advisory Group which actively supports us in all our work.

Our small administrative team at BKPA are here to answer your queries and signpost you on to additional sources of information as appropriate. We have our own library of information leaflets, skilled Advocates for advice on local issues and experienced counsellors who offer telephone support.

Paddy Tabor MVO

Chief Executive

Paddy Tabor MVO joined BKPA as Chief Executive in August 2013. "My first year with BKPA has been very exciting. The Charity does fantastic work in providing levels of financial support other charities cannot do. Most satisfying is our ability to react quickly to requests from patients on low income at times of real need. I am also very proud of the funding support provided to many kidney units around the UK in improving facilities and paying salaries of key staff." There is much to do, and he hopes significantly to expand BKPA's work in supporting kidney patients and improving their quality of life.
